  1. The video is Ellen’s response to a new product, just for women, launched by BIC Company; she uses sarcasm to express her opinion about it.

    The keys words
Feminism, stereotype, chauvinism, new product, Ellen's opinion, lady pen, BIC Company, Mockery.

Ellen stood her position about a new product from BIC company that she consider it is a mockery to the real fight for equality between women and men.

    Punch lines
    1. “How do they (BIC Company) expect us (women) to learn how to write with them (lady pens)?”
    2. “I (Ellen) had a man to read the back of the pack”
STEREOTYPE: It is taken for granted that men are smarter than women
She uses those lines to highlight how pointless stereotypes are; even those that impulse BIC Company to launch a lady pen in lady colors.

    New expression
Being out of rage = being really mad at someone

    3. She wants to promote kindness and equalize, she don't like levels, she don't see colors, she's like a cocker spaniel, in that way. Diferences between men and women.

    5. So many things you can do with the new "Pen for her"
"Even a woman can understand how use them/ When you have an opinion, you write it dowm in a pice of paper, and then, crumble it up and throw away because no ones wants to hear your opinions swet heart. You can use it to write dowm a grocery list store, or a recepy for when you need to feed your men"....

    6. Barefoot: Without shoes
Being out of rage: To be mad

    8. Ellen has the new Iphone and she talks about Siri, "the woman who lives in the Smartphone" Sometimes, Siri don't understand what you want to say. Then, Ellen tests the application in front of the audience. She makes some questions to Siri, and that’s very funny. Watch the video and laugh!

    About the video
The video clip is about Ellen’s reactions towards Bic’s new product, a pen for women called Bic for Her, because it proves that maybe women have not achieved equality after all.

    About Ellen's position towards life
Ellen’s position about life is rather egalitarian since she doesn’t like labels, doesn’t see colors as well, and that’s why she says she’s like a Cocker spaniel in that way. She specially points out that she specially doesn’t like pointing our differences between men and women.

    Punch lines
“And I thought that women, we've made a lot of progress towards equality. And we're allowed to vote, I think since 1982 now”.
“they called to ask me to be their spokesperson and I was outraged! I said I will never do a commercial for you, and then they said how much they'd pay me; I was like, okay”.

    About sarcasm
Ellen uses sarcasm in the commercial in order to stand out her position about the topic by sentences like: “They're built strong enough (the pen for her) for a man, but simple enough that even a woman can understand how to use them. Here's how it works: When you have an opinion, you write it down on a piece of paper and then crumple it up and throw it away because no-one wants to know our opinion sweetheart.” She emphasizes her ideas by expressing the opposite of what she really wants to say, inviting her spectators to analyze the topic and agree or disagree with her: she wants to start an argument.

    About culture
In general terms, we are shaped by culture about everything, since we live inside a certain community and all we learn comes from the interaction with it, and with others (people, communities, information, etc.), it is very likely that we repeat the patterns that we’ve saw, like, if I was taught to not discriminate any condition different than mine, or even, if I saw my parents doing that (or not), I would not differentiate in any possible way. However it's not as easy as saying "love your equals, even if they're different than you", because all the time we're seeing the stereotypes with which the society works for, and we tend to work for them as well.

    New words
I didn’t know expressions like “have a little ways to go” (there are still things to do), and “wild mood swings” (change of humor because of hormones), besides not having understood the words “Cocker spaniel” (a american and english dog breed).

  6. Sarcasm
Through the video, Ellen makes fun of stereotypes about how women are seen by a chauvinism society, showing an example of the clasic kind of lady defined by a biased society where being a women is equal to be silly, girly, weak and pretty.

    About culture
Culture is like a pair of glasses who helps us to see the world and the blurriness of our it's undeniable. We all have grown with the fear and hatred to difference that culture has taught us. It can be seen in the way we treat ourselves, in the stereotypes we believe in and in how we repeat and teach to younger a discriminatory behaviour

  7. Hah! I love this video. I may be a bit of a feminist ;). But seriously, she makes a good point here, and she does so in a very funny way.

I especially like the commercial she made. Her sarcasm is over the top, but in a good way (I think). She addresses many stereotypes and real issues regarding women's rights: the fact that we have never had a woman president in the States, the fact that men always think women are "crazy" and their mood swings, and the expectation that women write grocery lists and recipes "for their man". These are real issues we face today!

I also thought it was interesting how she says that we've had the right to vote since 1982, and that we can drive at night now... which are both good things. Well, we have had the right to vote for longer than that, but I think she is addressing the fact that legal equality is very different than cultural equality. In the states we still have many issues with gender equality. Women are constantly paid less for the same work; if we are successful, it is often seen as aggressive and negative. Which leads me to share this commercial in response:

    1. Nice insight Elena. Here things are even worse. Women, specially uneducated women are not treated equally here... too much domestic violence, they are very submissive and in their communities submission is the "norm".

The video clip is about a commercial of pens disigned for women's hands and the critics that presenter does.

2 the key words are pen, commercial , different , labels,

    3. promote kidness and equals rights I think women we've been a lot of progress

4, the punch lines she uses to stand her position about BIC pens are. This is totally real the pen just for ladies I know you think is about damn bad time... we've been using men's pens all this years .

Is so ridiculous and they called to ask me to be the spokeperson and I was outrage.

    5
you can use it to write down a growshirt list or even recipes when you need feed your man.
She use the sarcasme in the commercial using this words BIC for her for best result, use while barefoot and pregnant.
Is the only pen for ladies you'll ever need

6 designed to foot or women's hands

that's because you're growing up I think it's time we have that talk, the pen talk.
But I can handle those man's pens.

    Crumble and throw it away.

7 we are biased about gender issues by the commercial and way of western life

  9. 1. This video is a mockery of a new product « just for women » from BIC company.
    2. key words : society, women, gender , labels, stereotypes.
    3. She tries to promote kindness and equal rights, she doesn’t like labels and she doesn't see colors.
    4. Punch lines :
« The worst part is that they don’t come with any instructions, so, like, how we’re supposed to know how to write with them »
« Just think over the last 20 years, companies have spent millions of dollars making pills that grow men’s hair and fix men sex life and now ladies have a pen, wow !»
« When you have an opinion, you write it down on a piece of paper, and then crumple it up and throw it away, because no one wants to know our opinion , sweetheart »
5.With sarcasm, Ellen tries to make us understand what this people from bic company were actually thinking when they produced this bic for her pen: They still think in women as the weaker and dumb gender, unable to use a regular pen and able to pay twice as much for a pen "especially designed for women." Her position is very clear, she stands throughout the whole video that incredibly as a society we've not achieved gender equality and that we are far from it.
    6. Barefoot : with bare ( uncovered/ naked) feet.
Dictation : transcription of the text spoken aloud.
Crumple it up : to destroy
Spokesperson : the speaker of a group
    7. Gender bias inherently affect the way we think, the way we speak and of course the way we act. Apparently, we were raised in the equality generation but gender inequality is still immerse in our culture. All that we have learnt from our parents, our teachers and elder people is what we consider right; then it is what we start to imitate. That’s why is so hard to stop discriminating on the basis of gender and stop putting labels on people.
