Stop hate, start love
Ellen,
unusually serious, talks about an eight years old boy who got killed by
a classmate because of having asking him to be his valentine. She makes
a call to tolerance in order to stop these kinds of abuses just by no
thinking in differences among people.
Wow, this is scary. It's almost hard to take her seriously at first because you usually expect Ellen to be funny and sarcastic. But that just speaks to the very serious and true nature of what happens in the states.
ReplyDeleteHere is one positive article I read last night. The NBA (our national basketball league) just signed its first openly gay basketball player. Sports is a place of traditionally very anti-gay culture, but things are changing slowly!

What is the Colombian experience with being openly gay in elementary school?
Here is an article I just read about anti-gay laws being passed in Uganda... very scary to me!!

Elena and Netherlands reacted. They are no longer helping Uganda economically for their biased laws....
DeleteIt seems like schools are no longer a safe place to children.
ReplyDeleteIt's so sad to be witness of how violence and intolerance have taken places like school a place who is supposed to be a shelter of knowledge, friendship.
PS: I also read the article about Uganda, which actually is similar to Russian case. Both are proof of biased governments who have started a new crusade against difference and human rights.
This is a serious matter that has been beneath in our schools but has affected the life of many boys and girls. As you may be teachers or parents, please do not ignore it and promote inclusion and respect. I did suffer as a teen for the role model I never assumed as a macho man...Fortunately, I survived with no much trauma but many are not able to...
